Akamaihd.net and Twitter

Twitter is now using akamaihd.net selectively? I didn’t enable/allow it, and for some profiles, Twitter appears to be working fine without it in the same setup of browser firefox, add-ons, scripts and connection configuration.

From http://www.akamai.com/html/misc/hdnetwork.html

Security to protect the distribution rights of content
The Akamai HD Network offers "SecureHD", a service that provides several security features that can be used, independently or together, to provide effective content protection while ensuring legitimate users enjoy a smooth and stunning viewing experience. These mechanisms are designed to discourage and disable content and link piracy, while allowing the content owner to successfully monetize their assets—whether through pay-per-view, rentals and subscriptions, ad-supported, or other innovative business models.

I have to allow akamaihd.net script to get into Twitter. Otherwise, my browser just waits and waits. But not always, it comes and goes, and does not happen for all avatars in exactly the same controlled context. Sent and received DM's get duplicated or even tripled. When I turn NoScript totally off, the problems disappear (or become invisible to me ;))

Scripts in user profiles could be causing the issue. If a Twitter profile has a script embedded in it, and running the No Script add-on, then the page will never fully load. I have tested this with profiles I know do not have any scripts embedded in them - at least not of which I am aware.

Anybody know what's up with that?
